What This Course Is

The QA Engineering course at Next Minds Infosys is a 2.5-month, hands-on quality assurance program built for beginners who want to enter one of the most consistently hiring roles in Nepal's IT industry. Every software company ships code. Every one of them needs someone to make sure that code works. That person is a QA engineer, and this course teaches you to be one.

It covers the complete testing workflow employers hire for: writing test cases and test plans, executing manual tests, reporting bugs in JIRA, testing APIs with Postman, automating browser tests with Selenium WebDriver and Cypress, running performance tests with JMeter, and working inside Agile and Scrum processes. By the end you will have tested real applications, filed real bugs and built real automation scripts.

We built this course around what actually gets people hired. When Cotiviti, F1Soft, Leapfrog or Deerwalk interview QA candidates, they do not ask you to define "regression testing". They give you an application, ask you to write test cases for a feature, then ask you to automate one of them. If you cannot do both manual and automation testing you are competing for a shrinking pool of manual-only roles.

QA is one of the most accessible entry points into Nepal's IT industry. Unlike development roles that require months of learning a programming language, QA values structured thinking, attention to detail and methodical testing. You do not need a CS degree and you do not need to code before starting — you learn enough Java or JavaScript for automation from within the testing context, not as a standalone programming course.

Common Mistakes We See in Every Cohort

We have trained 145+ students in this course. These are the three patterns we correct most often.

Writing vague bug reports. "Login is broken" is not a bug report, it is a complaint. A proper report includes environment, preconditions, exact steps to reproduce, expected result, actual result, severity, priority and a screenshot or video. Every cohort has students who find real bugs but file them so poorly a developer cannot reproduce the issue. Module 1 drills this until it is second nature.

Automating everything from day one. Students learn Selenium and want to automate every test case immediately. That is wrong. Some tests should stay manual — exploratory testing, usability checks, one-time verifications — and some are not worth the automation investment. Knowing what to automate and what to leave manual is a judgment skill we teach explicitly, because getting it wrong wastes time and reads as inexperience in interviews.

Ignoring API testing. Many students see Postman as "the boring module" and rush through it, then freeze in an interview when asked to test a login endpoint. API testing is not optional in 2026 — most QA listings in Nepal now require it. Module 2 is as important as Module 3.

Real Projects, Not Textbook Scenarios

Every project uses a real web application as the test target. You will not read test cases from a PDF and check boxes — you will find real bugs, write real reports and build real automation scripts.

During the 2.5 months you will complete projects including:

  1. 1A complete manual test suite for a web application: test plan, test cases, execution and a defect report with JIRA tickets
  2. 2An API testing project: a REST endpoint collection in Postman, covering authentication, data validation and error handling
  3. 3A Selenium automation project: automating a regression suite using Page Object Model and TestNG
  4. 4A Cypress end-to-end project: testing a modern web application including API stubbing and custom commands
  5. 5A JMeter performance test: running a load test, analyzing the results and presenting findings
  6. 6A capstone assessment: given an application you have not seen before, write manual test cases, execute them, log bugs and automate the critical paths

These projects go into your portfolio. When a company asks "have you tested a real application?" your answer will be yes, with JIRA tickets, test reports and automation code on GitHub to prove it.

Certifications: What This Course Prepares You For

ISTQB Foundation Level (CTFL) is the most recognized QA certification globally. This curriculum aligns with its exam domains: testing fundamentals, testing throughout the SDLC, test design techniques, test management and tool support. The exam is administered separately and costs approximately USD 250 — check the ISTQB site for current pricing in Nepal. We provide preparation guidance, but the exam fee is not included in the course fee.

ISTQB is not required to get your first QA job in Nepal, but it strengthens your profile, especially for international companies and remote positions. We recommend completing the course, gaining 3 to 6 months of work experience, then taking the exam when you have practical context for the material.
